Award Process - Our Dedication to Appalachian Ohio

Growing-up in Appalachian Ohio and living his later years in Central Ohio gave Gov. Rhodes a unique look at the economic complexities of the state. While Ohio has continued to improve, far too often Appalachian Ohio struggles to receive the attention it needs to close the gap between the haves and have nots.

We understand how important it is to help give Appalachian Ohio the chance it needs to succeed, which is why the Foundation will aggressively seek corporate and private donations to build an endowment which will dedicate scholarships each year to residents of Ohio’s 29 Appalachian Counties.

In addition, the Foundation will work with Ohio-based employers to improve the outreach and services that should be offered to this important region of the state.

Appalachian Ohio is often called, "the forgotten Ohio," but because of our history, and our commitment to ensuring that all Ohioans get the chance to succeed, the Appalachian region will never be forgotten by the Foundation.
